Description
Material & Composition: Made from pure, cold-pressed flaxseed oil, Brouns & Co. Raw Linseed Oil is filtered and left completely unmodified, with no solvents, dryers, or synthetic additives. Its exceptionally low surface tension allows it to penetrate deeply into timber, nourishing and protecting the wood from within.
Application: Ideal for use in traditional primer mixes, conditioning dry timber, maintaining linseed oil paint systems, and preserving natural-bristle brushes. Apply sparingly with a brush or cloth, allowing the oil to fully penetrate before removing any excess. This is not used for maintaining a top coat; this is for bare timber only.
Coverage: Coverage varies depending on the porosity and condition of the timber. Dry or weathered wood will absorb significantly more oil than previously treated surfaces.
System Performance: Raw Linseed Oil penetrates deeply into the wood fibres rather than forming a surface film, helping to strengthen timber, reduce moisture movement, and improve the performance of traditional linseed oil paint systems. It is also the preferred storage medium for natural-bristle brushes, keeping them soft and ready for their next use.
Maintenance: For brush care, suspend natural-bristle brushes in Raw Linseed Oil between uses to prevent the bristles from drying out.
Shipping: Ships from our warehouse in New Hampshire.
Warning: Oil-soaked rags, paper towels, and other absorbent materials can generate heat as linseed oil cures and may spontaneously combust if left crumpled or piled together. After use, either soak them completely in water and store them in a sealed metal container, or place them in a sealed plastic bag for disposal.
