Primer #2

For Mid-tones

This ready-to-use primer is explicitly designed for use with our Linseed Oil Paint on bare timber. Carefully blended from natural ingredients and pigments, it eliminates the need to prepare your own mixture of raw linseed oil and balsam turpentine. A single coat creates an ideal foundation for the full Linseed Oil Paint range. When selecting your Linseed Oil Paint, the recommended primer for that specific color will be clearly indicated.

Price range: $33.75 through $472.00

Description

Material & Composition: Made from our local farm-grown flax-derived boiled linseed oil and mineral pigments. No plastics, acrylics, or synthetic binders. The paint penetrates the substrate, helping protect wood from moisture and metal from corrosion while allowing moisture to wick outward. Linseed oil paint will not chip or peel.

Application: Apply in thin coats using a natural-bristle brush, such as our oval hog’s hair paintbrush. Apply two top coats of linseed oil paint to create an even finish. Please note that minor color variations may occur between batches of primer; however, they will not affect the appearance of the finished product once topcoats are applied.

Coverage: Approx. 570–650 ft² per gallon per coat (14–16 m² per litre)—2x greater coverage than conventional paint systems.

System Performance: Linseed oil paint integrates into the surface rather than forming a film, allowing it to age gradually without cracking or peeling while continuing to protect over time.

Shipping: Ships from our warehouse in New Hampshire.
