Description

Material & Composition: Made from high-quality natural hemp fibers and tar oil, oakum is a traditional caulking material used to fill joints and gaps in timber construction.

Application: Twist or tease the fibers as needed, then pack firmly into joints with a caulking iron or other suitable tool. Once installed, finish with Brouns & Co. Linseed Oil Putty or Linseed Oil Paint, depending on the application.

System Performance: Oakum compresses and moves naturally with timber, providing a durable, flexible seal that has been trusted for centuries in traditional joinery, timber framing, windows, and historic building restoration. Unlike modern synthetic fillers, it supports the building’s natural movement and moisture management.

Shipping: Ships from our warehouse in New Hampshire.
