Graphite – for Metal (40)

Graphite – for Metal (40) is a dark, cool-toned grey formulated to replicate the classic finish traditionally used on railings, gutters, downspouts, and other metalwork. Blended with linseed varnish, it offers an authentic metal-like appearance with a subtle, understated sheen that sets it apart from the standard matte shade graphite paint. This formulation is intentionally thinner to achieve its characteristic finish, so frequent stirring during application is essential to maintain consistency. Because of this unique texture, Graphite (40) is best suited to metal surfaces and can be more challenging to apply to timber—we generally recommend choosing one of our other grey shades for wood.

While Graphite – for Metal (40) is tailored for metalwork, any color in our linseed oil paint range can be used on metal, giving you complete freedom to match or contrast as needed.

For best results, pair Graphite – for Metal (40) with Iron Oxide Primer, our ready-mixed linseed oil primer.
